Terms of Use
Effective date: 2026-11-03
1. About these terms
These terms cover your use of the SipLife app and of our push server. SipLife is made by Free Simple Apps ("we", "us"). By installing or using SipLife you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.
2. What SipLife is
SipLife is a SIP softphone for Android. A version for iPhone is planned. It makes and receives calls and text messages through a SIP account that you already have with a SIP provider or an office PBX.
We are not a telephone carrier. We do not provide phone numbers, calls to or from the public telephone network, or an emergency service of our own. Your SIP provider provides those services under its own terms and prices, and calls cost whatever your provider charges for them.
3. Emergency calls
SipLife does not place emergency calls over SIP. When you dial an emergency number, the app hands it to your phone's own dialer, which calls over the mobile network. Whether that call goes through depends on your phone, your mobile network and where you are. Do not rely on SipLife or on your SIP account as your means of reaching emergency services.
4. Your SIP account and your provider
- You must have the right to use every SIP account you add to the app.
- You are responsible for following your provider's terms. Some providers do not allow third-party apps, or do not allow an account to be used from another server, as push mode does. Check your provider's terms before you turn push mode on.
- You are responsible for the calls and messages made from your accounts and for your provider's charges, including charges caused by someone who got hold of your password. Keep your passwords safe.
- We do not promise that every provider or PBX works with SipLife.
5. Direct mode and push mode
Each account in the app works in one of two modes.
- Direct mode is free. The app talks to your provider directly, and our server takes no part.
- Push mode is called "always-on calls" in the app. Our server keeps your account registered with your provider and wakes your phone with a push notification when a call or a message comes in. Push mode needs a paid subscription, described below.
Accounts on our own lab provider, lab.siplife.online (test accounts we give to testers), use push mode free of charge.
6. The push-mode subscription
- The subscription is sold only through Google Play. There is a monthly plan and a yearly plan. The current prices are shown in the app and in Google Play before you buy.
- It renews automatically. At the end of each monthly or yearly period, Google Play charges you for the next period, unless you cancel before the period ends.
- Free trial. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. When the trial ends, it turns into a paid subscription automatically and Google Play charges you, unless you cancel before the trial ends.
- How to cancel. Open Google Play › Subscriptions (or play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions) and cancel SipLife. Removing the account or deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
- After you cancel, push mode keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for. Then push mode stops for accounts that need the subscription; you can switch them to direct mode.
- Billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds are handled by Google Play under its own terms and policies. We never see your card details.
- One subscription has no limit on the number of phones that use it.
- We may change the prices. Google Play tells you in advance, as its rules allow, and you can cancel before a new price applies.
7. Acceptable use
You must not use SipLife or our server to:
- send spam, make robocalls or make unwanted bulk calls or messages;
- commit fraud, including toll fraud and traffic or SMS pumping (creating calls or messages to earn from their charges);
- break the law or other people's rights;
- attack, overload, probe or get around the limits of our server, or reach other users' data;
- resell or share access to our server outside the app.
Our server applies rate limits. We may suspend push mode for an account or a phone that breaks these rules, and we may do so without notice when we need to stop harm quickly. You can stop using SipLife at any time.
8. Availability
SipLife and our server are provided "as is" and "as available". We do our best to keep push mode running, but we do not guarantee any uptime. Push notifications are delivered by Google and Apple, and calls depend on your network, your phone's settings and your provider, so a call or a message can arrive late or be missed. We may change, update or stop parts of the app or the service.
To the extent the law allows, we give no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including that the app is fit for a particular purpose or free of errors.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for:
- missed, dropped or late calls and messages;
- charges from your provider or your mobile network, including charges from fraud on your account;
- indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, business or data.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for the push-mode subscription in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or your rights as a consumer under the law.
10. Open-source licence
SipLife's source code is dual-licensed: under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later, and under a commercial licence. These terms cover the use of the app as we distribute it and the use of our service. They do not limit any right that the open-source licence gives you.
11. Apps from Apple's App Store
If you get SipLife from Apple's App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the app; these terms add the rules for our service. These terms are between you and us, not Apple. A subscription bought through the App Store is billed by Apple, renews automatically unless you turn renewal off at least 24 hours before the period ends, and is managed and cancelled in your Apple Account settings.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes what the app and our server keep, what they send, and how to have your data deleted.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new terms on this page with a new effective date. If you keep using SipLife after that date, you accept the new terms.
These terms are effective as of 2026-11-03.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the country where you live. Nothing in them takes away the rights that law gives you as a consumer, and a dispute goes to the courts it names.
